Bicycle Conversion using a 10,000 Watt Car Alternator

In this ambitious DIY project, the creators transform an ordinary bicycle into a powerful electric bike by repurposing a car alternator as a brushless motor. Using custom-designed gears with an 18:72 tooth ratio, they effectively reduce the motor’s RPM while increasing torque. The bike is powered by a custom lithium-ion battery pack providing approximately 1,500 watts of power, paired with a 200-amp brushless speed controller capable of delivering up to 10 kilowatts. During testing, the electric bicycle demonstrated remarkable performance, reaching speeds around 70 kilometers per hour and achieving an impressive range of 66-100 kilometers depending on throttle usage. The project showcases innovative engineering, converting a standard bicycle into a high-performance electric vehicle through creative modification and careful component selection.
